Alpha (α)
In statistics, alpha (α), or alpha level, is the probability value (p-value) used to decide whether to accept or reject a null hypothesis. The critical value of .05 is the generally accepted alpha level.
The alpha level is the P-value that we as researchers decide to accept before we will be confident enough to release a finding. This is our predetermined acceptance level.
Alpha (α) is the first letter of the Greek alphabet.
AKA: Critical value, cut-off value
