Calculated probability values

In statistics, a calculated probability value (p-value) is the area under the normal distribution curve that corresponds with a specifice test statistic (i.e., t test F test, z test).  The calculated p-value is compared to the critical p-value and a decision is made whether to reject the null hypothesis or not. Remember: a small p-value is strong evidence against the null.

***Warning: the rules for rejecting or not rejecting the null hypothesis are different, depending on if you are comparing p-values, or comparing test statistics.
